So my vote is paint the dark parts first then add highlights.
Should you paint dark or light walls first.
The hotly debated issue doesn t seem to have a definitive.
On the other hand if you paint the wall first then the trim paint could bleed over and force you to go back and fix the wall color.
In fact painting should be called covering since prep and tear down can be as much as 95 of the time you spend painting that said it is always easier to hide light with dark.
When you are starved of light it s better to go for a really strong color to add depth to the room.
Group comfortable seating near the dark wall for an effect much like gathering around a fireplace.
If you get some light on dark you can touch it up much easier and effectively.
Going dark is therefore a really good idea for a room where you have a lot of stuff going on.
In fact it s just the opposite.
It makes art and other objects against the walls stand out the dark hue provides a perfect backdrop for art photographs and other decorative items as it really highlights them and draws the eye.
Paint three walls in a room with light color and paint one wall a warm dark color to bring the dark wall closer and make it a focal point for the room.
The overall room will then seem shorter and more square than rectangular.
